Brothers in Arms: D-Day is a tactical person shooter game in the Brothers in Arms series for the PSP. It combines both Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood into this game.
Gameplay[]
Much like the first two Brothers in Arms games, D-Day heavily focuses on commanding a squad to suppress then flank an enemy force with head-on assaults usually resulting in disaster. Also the game uses intelligent opponents who will try to outmaneuver the player, although the AI in D-Day is not as advanced as the earlier PC/console versions of the game.
Generally, the levels are most of Hill 30 (with some levels missing) and then Bloody Gluch onwards for Earned in Blood, Skirmish mode is also included with a unique map, Crossing Guard.
There are several gameplay changes:
- The player and their squad can use Mortars (But only one level was altered to have this be useful.)
- The player can order their squad to use an MG42.
- Enemies will sometimes drop brown satchels on death containing grenades.
- The player only has one controllable squad for each level.
- The player has much better accuracy with weapons and less weapon sway when aiming.
- Melee no longer has it's own button, it is now automatically peformed when trying to shoot an enemy at close enough range.
- Difficulty is generally lower outside of Skirmish mode.
- The ability to request ammo from allies from Earned in Blood is present in Hill 30 missions.
- Hartsock's voice is used however the player's damage/death sounds are Baker, regardless of mission, even when playing as the Axis in Skirmish.
- There are a few other changes specifically to individual levels.
- The player can throw back grenades, an icon of a grenade with a timer will also appear on screen if the player is ontop of a grenade.
Weapon Stat changes[]
For unknown reasons, several weapons had their stats altered:
- FG42 now holds 30 bullets in a magazine.
- M3 Grease Gun holds 20 bullets.
