"We had the documents. Mission accomplished. Now all we had to do was get out of there alive..."
—Cole Wright
KIA is the final mission of Campaign 1. It marks the final appearance of Jacob Hall, who dies at the end of the mission.
Summary[]
After the events of Castle Storm, a few of Cole's soldier's have infiltrated the castle themselves, however, they weren't ready for the German reinforcements, one of which was an gatling gun. They are killed almost immediately. Cole, James Gann, and an unnamed ally, are trying to get out of the castle so they could get the documents that they had secured last mission, out of there. Cole finds a crate, with a First Aid Kit.
They reach the stairs, where the gatling gun is set up. Cole kills the Nazi operating it, and James tell him to use the weapon to stop the German assault. He then uses the Nazi's own reinforcements against them, and he defeats them with ease. Once it seems like the reinforcements have died down, the squad advances, where they see a wounded ally. Cole rescues him, and this triggers the next wave of Nazi's. Dean Miller tells Cole that there's an ambush.
Wright takes cover, and Miller hands him a flamethrower to take out the ambush. Just as they are about exit the castle, they come face to face with an MG Nest. Cole can't reach him with his rifle, so he uses Dean's flamethrower.
The mission then comes to a close.
In a cutscene after the mission, Cole and Jacob Hall are escaping the area. Wright tells Hall to keep on moving, and both men are unaware of German sniper taking aim at them. Just as Hall is about to comment on their success, he is shot in the head by the sniper. Cole screams his name, but it is too late—the private is dead.
Jacob: "Hey Sarge! We—"
Cole: Jacob! JACOB!!!
After the mission, it is confirmed that he was KIA (killed in action), and that the player cannot select him anymore.
